CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- One woman was killed and five others were injured on Interstate 77 Friday in a collision involving two SUV's and a semi truck.
According to a press release from the Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol, a Cadillac SUV was traveling north on I-77 near Kimbolton at around 2:00 p.m. Friday when it lost control, struck the guardrail, and re-entered traffic, striking the passenger's side of a semi truck. Both vehicles drove into the median, and the semi continued into the southbound lanes of I-77, where a GMC SUV struck the rear of the semi tractor trailer.
The State Patrol reports that a female passenger of the GMC SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while three other occupants of that vehicle were life-flighted to a Pittsburgh hospital. Two passengers of the Cadillac SUV were transported to Southeastern Med for treatment. The semi's driver and passenger refused treatment. None of the identites of those involved has been released, at this time.
Traffic was restricted at the site for approximately three hours as crews from the Cambridge and Liberty Fire Departments and ODOT worked to clear debris from the roadway.

One accident is in the southbound lanes, the other northbound. Early reports say, one fatality took place in the southbound accident, which involved two cars and a semi. That crash took place just after 2 p.m. A brine truck rolled over in the northbound lanes and another minor crash took place in the area as well. Troopers are clearing a place for a Med-Flight helicopter to land to transport other victims of the accidents. One lane of traffic is moving slowly northbound.
