Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Rangers Clip Tribe

CLEVELAND (AP) - Josh Hamilton was hitless in his return to the majors, but reached on a key error that sent the Texas Rangers over Cleveland 10-8 Monday for their sixth straight win.

Hamilton, slowed this season by shoulder surgery, was 0 for 3 with two strikeouts and a walk, and scored a run.

The 2010 AL MVP came up with runners on first and second and two outs in the seventh inning with the score 8-all. He hit an easy tapper back to pitcher Zach McAllister, whose throw was well over the head of first baseman Carlos Santana for a two-base error.

Hamilton was traded from the Angels back to Texas in late April.

Prince Fielder hit his fourth home run in four games for the Rangers. He hit an RBI single that tied it earlier in the seventh.

The Indians had won six in a row.

Reds Lose Again

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati Reds lost their ninth straight game Monday as Nolan Arenado homered, had three hits and drove in the tiebreaking run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning off Aroldis Chapman that gave the Colorado Rockies a 5-4 victory.

This is the Reds' longest losing streak since they dropped 11 straight in June 1998 under manager Jack McKeon.

Arenado had a pair of singles and a solo homer off Reds starter Jason Marquis. He then helped the Rockies pull it out against Chapman (2-3), who came in for the ninth.

Charlie Blackmon opened with a walk and took third on D.J. Lemahieu's single. Blackmon scored easily on Arenado's fly to center fielder Billy Hamilton, whose throw was off-target.

Rafael Betancourt (2-1) retired the four batters he faced. John Axford gave up a walk in the ninth while getting his seventh save in as many chances.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A resolution urging baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred to reinstate former Cincinnati Reds star Pete Rose and make him eligible for the Hall of Fame is getting its first hearing in the Ohio Legislature.

The Senate State & Local Government Committee plans to hear sponsor testimony on the measure Tuesday.

Rose agreed to a lifetime ban in 1989 after a Major League Baseball investigation concluded he bet on Reds' games while managing the team. He has applied for reinstatement, but Manfred has not given a timetable for a decision.

Rose, the game's all-time hits leader, will have a role in events surrounding the All-Star game this summer in Cincinnati, but the extent is still to be determined by Major League Baseball and the Reds.
