Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Fend off Sharks comeback

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson carried the 73-win Warriors right back to the NBA Finals, as Golden State rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 96-88 on Monday night in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals.

Curry scored 36 points with seven 3-pointers to finish with an NBA-record 32 in a seven-game series, while Thompson added 21 points and six 3s, two days after his record 11 3-pointers led a Game 6 comeback that sent the series home to raucous Oracle Arena for one more.

The Warriors became the 10th team to rally from a 3-1 deficit and win a postseason series. They return to the NBA Finals for a rematch with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who lost the 2015 title in six games as Golden State captured its first championship in 40 years.

Game 1 is Thursday night in Oakland.

(UNDATED) AP -- Jeff Locke retired 19 straight batters and tossed a three-hitter as Pittsburgh hammered the Marlins 10-0 in Miami.

Gregory Polanco launched a grand slam, Sean Rodriguez added a two-run shot and David Freese delivered a pair of RBI singles to carry the offense in the Pirates' sixth win in eight games.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Nomar Mazara hit a three-run homer, Ian Desmond had a two-run shot and the Texas Rangers beat the Cleveland Indians 9-2 on Monday night.

Derek Holland (4-4) pitched six innings and gave up one run - a solo homer by Mike Napoli - to win for the first time since April 30.

Josh Tomlin (7-1) lasted 3 2/3 innings and lost for the first time since Sept. 15. The right-hander was 12-0 in 13 starts following a Cleveland loss dating back to last season.

Desmond, the game's second batter, gave Texas a quick lead with a homer into the left-field bleachers. Mazara, who is having an impressive rookie season, hit his ninth homer to dead center during a four-run fourth.

DENVER (AP) - Adam Duvall had his first career two-homer game, Joey Votto hit his 200th homer and Eugenio Suarez - who came in mired in an 0-for-28 skid - also went deep in the Cincinnati Reds' 11-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday.

Zack Cozart also homered for the light-hitting Reds, who collected a season-best 17 hits.

The Rockies gave up five homers after entering the game having allowed a major league-low 15 in the month of May.

Dan Straily (3-2) overcame a slow start and an early 5-1 deficit to pick up the win. He helped himself by drawing a walk and scoring a run in Cincinnati's five-run fourth inning rally that turned things around.

Votto led off the seventh with his eighth homer, a no-doubt shot off Jason Motte over the scoreboard in right that made him the seventh Reds player to have 200 homers among his 1,000-plus career hits.
