Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Bucks-Ducks a Reality

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Cardale Jones came through again at the Sugar Bowl in his second career start and Ezekiel Elliott ran for 230 yards, leading Ohio State to a 42-35 upset of top-ranked Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal Thursday night.

The Buckeyes advanced to play Oregon in the Jan. 12 national championship game at Arlington, Texas.

Jones threw for 243 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown to Devin Smith that put the Buckeyes ahead for good early in the third quarter. He also ran for 43 yards and converted a crucial third-down play on a 1-yard dive with Ohio State (13-1) clinging to a 34-28 lead.

On the next play, Elliott took a handoff, broke one feeble attempt at a tackle, and was gone for an 85-yard touchdown that clinched the victory with 3:24 remaining.

Alabama (12-2) was denied a shot at its fourth national title in six years.

LBJ to Miss Time

CLEVELAND (AP) - LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers is expected to miss the next two weeks because of a strained left knee and back problem.

Following a physical and an exam, James will be treated with "anti-inflammatories, rehabilitation, training room treatments and rest," the Cavaliers said on Thursday.

James has missed Cleveland's last two games. If the two-week estimate proves correct, it will be the longest string of games James has missed in his NBA career. He missed five straight early in the 2007-08 season.

The NBA's four-time MVP is averaging 25.2 points this season, second best in the league.

Bengals and Colts Reach Capacity

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Colts-Bengals wild-card game Sunday is a sellout, meaning it will be televised locally.

Thursday's announcement by the Colts came before the NFL's 72-hour deadline. A year ago, the league gave teams extensions on ticket sales to avoid a blackout.

According to the NFL, a sellout does not mean every single seat is sold. A limited number of tickets are available for Sunday, including those tickets returned by the Bengals.

Indianapolis (11-5) defeated Cincinnati (10-5-1) during the season, 27-0 on Oct. 19.
