Officials say worker was responsive when he was transported to hospital

BEALLSVILLE, Ohio -- A coal miner at the Century Mine in Beallsville had to be taken by medical helicopter to a Morgantown hospital following a work-related accident on Friday morning.
According to Murray Energy, an experienced continuous miner operator was injured when he positioned his body between a continuous miner cable handling device and a rib of coal. The injury occurred when he pulled the equipment against his body. After he was freed, the miner was reportedly able to communicate with first responders. Murray officials reported they saw no noticeable injuries. He was transported to a Morgantown hospital.
The call was received by Belmont County 911 dispatchers around 7 a.m. Friday morning after officials at the mine requested two emergency squads and a medical helicopter. So far, there has been no word on his condition.
