Indians Down 'Stros in Extras

HOUSTON (AP) - The Cleveland Indians beat the Houston Astros 2-1 in extra innings last night. Mike Aviles's sacrifice fly in the 13th scored Jose Ramirez. Kyle Crockett got the Indians out of trouble in the 12th, and Cody Allen pitched the 13th for his 22nd save.

The Tribe plays at the Twins tonight on WBNV 93.5 FM, which you can hear in progress following high school football.

Flacco Ready to Battle Browns

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is expected to make his 99th straight regular-season start on Sunday when the Ravens play at Cleveland. Flacco returned to practice yesterday, one day after missing workouts with an illness. He says he had picked up a stomach virus from his son.

Limelight Beach Takes Spotlight

DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) - Limelight Beach won the Little Brown Jug yesterday at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, beating Let's Drink on It by 1 1/4 lengths in the second leg of the pacing Triple Crown. Driven by Yannick Gingras, Limelight Beach led from the start and was never really threatened, finishing in 1:50.4. The third leg is November 2nd at Yonkers Raceway.

Buckeyes Buck Up for Cincy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State is gearing up for Cincinnati's lethal passing game. After two losses to end last season, coach Urban Meyer hired a new co-defensive coordinator and had him rebuild the way players defend against the pass. They've barely been tested, but with the Bearcats coming to town on September 27th - it figures to be an important gauge of whether Ohio State can stop teams through the air.

Tribe Tops Astros

HOUSTON (AP) - The Cleveland Indians beat the Houston Astros 2-0 last night. Carlos Carrasco threw a two-hitter with a career-high 12 strikeouts. Yan Gomes had an RBI single in the fourth inning and a run-scoring triple in the sixth for the Tribe.

The teams wrap up their series tonight at 8:10 on 93.5 WBNV.

Cubs Complete Cincy Sweep

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 last night for a series sweep. Kyle Hendricks kept up his impressive rookie season, pitching seven strong innings. Chris Valaika, Ryan Kalish and Luis Valbuena each had a run-scoring hit for the Cubs. The Reds have dropped four in a row overall. They scored just one run in the three-game series against the Cubs, and were held to one hit in a shutout loss Tuesday night.

Bengals Receiver Doesn't Practice

CINCINNATI (AP) - Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Green was held out of practice yesterday with an injured toe. Green hurt his toe during the Cincinnati Bengals' opening win in Baltimore. He stayed in for the full game. It's unclear if he will be available this Sunday against Tennessee.
