    Every first and third Thursday of the month, there is a Mid-Ohio Food Bank Distribution at the Union Local School.  February distribution date is:  Thursday February 6, 2104 and Thursday February 20, 2014.  Food distribution is first come first serve to those in need.  Registration is required and registration begins at 9:30 am on Food truck arrival at 9:30 a.m.  Food distribution begins at approximately 10 a.m. until at least 11:30 a.m.   Please bring your own bags. We should be distributing in the football field parking lot area.  Please park on road closest to fence or down toward the west end of parking lot leaving room for the truck to enter and exit and people to safely walk in the distribution area.   A completed “proxy” of authorization, is needed if picking up food for another family, can be picked up at registration table.  For more information, please contact the Union Local Administrative office at 740-782-1198 or 740-310-4991

    The Guernsey County CDC and the City of Cambridge will be accepting sign-ups for organizations and individuals that wish to volunteer in the EPA Litter Clean-up Program scheduled to take place on September 19th and 20th. Volunteers can either clean-up an area of choice or be assigned a designated area.     The 7th Annual  Conquer Chiari Walk Across America  will take place on September 20th, 2014 across the US.  Our local event will be held starting at 8 am  at Guernsey County Fairgrounds 335 Old National Rd - Lore City, OH 43755.  We are requesting any form of sponsorship or donation available to raise funds for our local walk.

    Conquer Chiari, known formally as the C&S Patient Education Foundation, is a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to improving the experiences and outcomes of Chiari patients through education, awareness, and research.     On Saturday, September 20th, 2014 the Belmont Soil & Water Conservation District will hold a Captina Creek 5K and Family Day  on Saturday, Sept. 20, starting at 9 am at Barkcamp State Park. Runners and walkers will enjoy the scenic trails and compete for exciting prizes. Non-runners and family members will have an opportunity to learn about natural resource conservation by visiting several exhibitors with informational and interactive displays. These exhibitors include businesses, nonprofit organizations, and agencies from all around the state and the Ohio Valley region. Proceeds generated from runner registration fees will benefit watershed and conservation educational programs for Belmont County youth.

    Runners and walkers must be present by 8:45 AM on race day. The race starts at 9:00 AM and the Family Day activities will be held from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Barkcamp State Park is located at 65330 Barkcamp Park Road, Belmont, OH 43718.Pre-registration cost is $15 before September 6th and $20 after September 6th and on race day.
