The 4th Annual Brad Detling Memorial Ridge Runner Classic (BDMRRC) 5K Walk/Run, sponsored by Wayne Homes, South Central Power Company and William Knox, CPA, will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Barnesville High School. The race begins at Barnesville High School at 8:30 A.M.  The route includes Shamrock Drive and Grange Hall Road and ends at Barnesville Middle School. Downloadable registration forms and online registration is available at www.theracedeal.com. Race day registration is from 7 A.M. until 8 A.M. at the Barnesville High School gymnasium.

In addition to the 5K run, The BDMRRC is unique in that it features two classifications of walkers, competitive and non-competitive. Those who walk competitively complete the 5K race course and are eligible to win awards. Those who are in the non-competitive category may walk as little or as much of the course as they wish (or walk on the high school track) and are ineligible for awards. All pre-registrants are guaranteed a one of a kind race shirt. A limited number of t-shirts will be available for those registering late or registering on race day. Door prizes, refreshments, and DJ entertainment will also be available.

Platinum Sponsors for the 2014 race include Barnesville-Woodsfield Veterinary Services, Williams Ohio Valley Mid-Stream, Women’s Health Care Physicians, ADAM Fantasy Football League, Dave Cook Contracting, Pure Romance by Sherrie Doudna, and Fisher Family & Sport Chiropractic.

Proceeds collected from the race goes toward an annual scholarship awarded to one or more qualified Barnesville High School senior(s) planning to continue their education at the collegiate level. A portion of the proceeds is also donated to cancer research via Central Ohio Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
