Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Sox Stomp Indians

CLEVELAND (AP) - Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco was struck in the face by a line drive in the first inning and Chicago's Jose Quintana pitched six strong innings, leading the White Sox to a 4-1 win on Tuesday night.
Carrasco was carted off the field after Melky Cabrera - the second hitter - rocketed a shot up the middle that slammed the right side of the right-hander's face. Carrasco (1-1) was lucky to get a piece of his glove on the ball before it smashed him.
The Indians said X-rays of Carrasco, the club's No. 2 starter, were negative and he was being treated at Lutheran Hospital for a bruised jaw.
The White Sox scored two runs in the first after Carrasco was injured and won their third straight. Chicago is just 10-24 against Cleveland since 2013.
Quintana (1-0) allowed three hits, struck out six and improved to 4-0 in 10 starts against the Indians, whose left-handed heavy lineup is struggling against left-handers.

Cavs Starters Take Breather

BOSTON (AP) - With the No. 2 playoff spot in the Eastern Conference clinched, LeBron James and three other starters are not playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Boston Celtics.
Coach David Blatt says James, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith will not play Sunday.
The Celtics began the game with a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a win and an Indiana loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday night. Boston was tied with Brooklyn for seventh place in the East and has the tiebreaker over the Nets.
When Boston played in Cleveland on Friday night, Irving sat out with a sore hip while James and Love didn't play in the fourth quarter.
Blatt said all four would play Monday night against Detroit in Cleveland's next to last game of the regular season.
