Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Indians Round Out Rotation

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - Zach McAllister and T.J. House have won the two open jobs in the Cleveland Indians' starting rotation.
Manager Terry Francona told the pitchers on Sunday before House started an exhibition against the Chicago White Sox. The left-handed House and McAllister will follow Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Trevor Bauer in a rotation the Indians hope can keep them in contention this season.
House went 5-3 with a 3.35 ERA in 18 starts for the Indians last year. McAllister, who made 15 starts, is scheduled to pitch the home opener on April 10 against Detroit.
McAllister pitched in relief to end last season. The Indians considered using him out of the bullpen again, but the right-hander earned the starting job with a strong spring.
Cleveland also optioned Josh Tomlin to Triple-A Columbus. He had been in the starting mix along with Danny Salazar, who also was sent to the Clippers.

Dayton One Step Away from Final Four

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Jim Jabir and his Dayton Flyers played UConn four years ago in the Huskies' Thanksgiving tournament.
They lost by 40, but came away with an understanding of what it took to be an elite program in women's college basketball.
Now Jabir has the Flyers on an improbable run, one victory away from reaching the school's first Final Four.
Standing in the way is UConn, a team looking for its eighth straight trip to the national semifinals and a third consecutive championship. The two teams will play Monday night in the Albany Regional final.
UConn coach Geno Auriemma remembers a time when his team was similar to Dayton. The Huskies were the underdog in 1991. They hadn't won any of their nine national championships yet and had never even made it to the Final Four. But with a talented mix of juniors and seniors, UConn made a run to the national semifinals.
