The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.
AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.
As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.
With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Bowling Green beat Florida Gulf Coast 82-77 last night. Spencer Parker scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Zack Denny added 18 points and 11 boards for Bowling Green, which snapped Florida Gulf Coast's three game home winning streak to open the season.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - An MRI has confirmed that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in Sunday's 16-13 win over the St. Louis Rams.
It's a season-ending injury, so Matt Schaub will start next Monday night against the Cleveland Browns.
Flacco and coach John Harbaugh both made their NFL debut in 2008, Flacco as a rookie starter and Harbaugh as a first-year coach. They worked 122 successive regular-season games together through Sunday.
Harbaugh called it a "blessing" to have the same quarterback for more than 7 1/2 years, and he hopes to have Flacco back for training camp next year.
The coach says the Ravens intend to sign a backup for Schaub in the next few days. Bryn Renner, who played in the preseason, is a candidate for the practice squad.
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) - Florida State beat Ohio 90-81 last night in the fourth-place game of the Paradise Jam. Jordan Dartis paced Ohio with 24 points.
