ATHENS, Ohio -The Athens County Coroner says a Gahanna man who died early Sunday morning did not die as a result of his fall.
23-year-old William Patrick Thomas died early Sunday morning after he was found at the bottom of a set of stairs leading down from The Overhand Bar located in the 60 block of North Court Street in Athens.
Dr. Harold Thompson says Thomas did not die as a result of the fall, but could not rule on the exact cause of death. Thompson is waiting for toxicology reports to see what was in Thomas’s system at the time of his death, which could take several weeks.
Thomas was found at the bottom of a set of stairs, bleeding from the head and in cardiac arrest. He was transported to O’Bleness Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
According to initial police, Thomas had fallen from the stairs.
No foul play was immediately suspected.
