NEW CONCORD, OHIO - APRIL 18, 2013 - The Cambridge Singers today announced that they will provide scholarship support for the Muskingum University High School Summer Music Theatre Camp, to be held this year from June 23 to 29 on the campus. The Singers plan to make two scholarships available to eligible camp participants.
In announcing the scholarships, Cambridge Singers Director Kayela Roberson said, "I have a unique perspective in promoting and encouraging participation in the camp. While I was a student at Muskingum, I had the pleasure of serving as a counselor and I saw first-hand what an impact the experience can have on students. It provides an outstanding learning opportunity for young people and it's offered right here in southeastern Ohio."
The registration deadline for the camp is April 22, but applications will be accepted until it is filled. Registration is open to students currently in grades 9 through 12. Information, registration requirements and an application may be found by logging on to www.muskingum.edu/dept/music/camp.html, or by calling Camp Director Carol Wilcox Jones at 740-826-8104.
To apply, students need to fill out the registration form, provide a letter of recommendation from their music or drama teacher and an audition video or DVD of two contrasting vocal selections and pay a $50 deposit.
Once students are accepted into the camp, they may apply for the Cambridge Singers scholarships. That application may also be found on the camp web site or by contacting someone in the Cambridge Singers. Deadline for these scholarships is May 1 and the winners will be announced on stage at the Cambridge Singers spring concert, to be held May 17 and 18 at the Scottish Rite Auditorium.
For further information or questions, call Wilcox-Jones at 740-826-8104.
Support for the Music Theatre Camp is provided in part by the Ohio Arts Council.
