CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- A state trooper from the Cambridge Post was promoted on Wednesday.
Col. Paul A. Pride, superintendent of the State Highway Patrol, promoted Trooper Jeffrey Jirles to sergeant during the ceremony at the Patrol's Academy. Sgt. Jirles will transfer from his current assignment at the Cambridge Post’s Licensing and Commercial Standards Unit to serve as an assistant post commander at the Zanesville Post.
Sgt. Jirles told AVC News that he's honored to accept the promotion and continue to serve the public:
Sgt. Jirles began his Patrol career in April 1998 as a member of the 131st Academy Class. He earned his commission in October of that year and was assigned to the Wooster Post. In 1999, he transferred to the Zanesville Post, and in 2004, he took up his most recent assignment in the Cambridge District. In 2012, he was selected as Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector of the Year.
