HEAP Summer program helps Ohioans stay cool

The GMN Tri-County CAC has announced that they have been awarded a grant to assist area low income families to keep cool this summer. The 2014 HEAP Summer Cooling grant period runs from July 1 through August 30 this year.

Eligible households may be able to obtain an air conditioner, provided that the household has not received one in the past three years. If eligible, households may also receive a one-time payment to continue or restore service.

To be considered eligible for assistance, the household must include a member who is age 60 or older, a member who has a medical illness that would benefit from continued electrical service. The household must also be served by an unregulated utilities with a disconnect notice.
