ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- The incoming superintendent of the Mid-East Career and Technology Centers says he looks forward to finding new way to serve the communities near the Zanesville and Buffalo campuses.
The Mid-East Board of Education on Tuesday night confirmed Thomas Perkins as the new district superintendent, effective August 1. Perkins, who served as superintendent of the Rolling Hills Local Schools from 2008-2010, told AVC News on Thursday morning that he's excited to return to familiar territory and serve many of southeastern Ohio's students in a new capacity:
Perkins said that his aim is to find new programs tailored to the evolving needs of the communities in Guernsey, Noble, Muskingum and Perry counties.
Perkins previously served four years as superintendent of the Northern Local School District in Perry County. He has also been an administrator or educator in the Rolling Hills, Warren Local and Noble Local districts.
Former Superintendent Bill Bussey resigned from the position after 14 years to accept a position with the Ohio Department of Education. Bussey will be the state director of career-technical education.
