CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- Ohio's Democratic U.S. senator lauded the vision of a Cambridge manufacturer during a tour of the facility on Wednesday afternoon.
Sen. Sherrod Brown visited Quanex Corporation on Wednesday as part of his tour this week of Ohio manufacturing facilities. At each stop, Brown has discussed with business leaders the bipartisan Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act (RAMI), which he says bolsters collaborations between universities and colleges, state and federal agencies and the manufacturing sector:
Brown said that, by inviting middle and high school students into their facility and educating them on the future of manufacturing, Quanex Corp. embodies the forward-thinking partnerships the RAMI Act encourages.
Brown also praised Quanex for seeing the potential in Ohio as a base for future endeavors:
Plant General Manager George Wilson said that Cambridge's proximity to both I-70 and I-77, as well as Ohio's "Polymer Corridor," made Guernsey County an easy choice as a location for Quanex's IG Systems plant. Wilson complimented the workforce that southeastern Ohio has produced:
Quanex's Cambridge plant primarily produces rubberized insulating spacers used in window production throughout the world.
