Shelly and Sands Inc. will perform the work on Southgate Parkway, from Wheeling Avenue to the Veterans Memorial Bridge, in three phases starting next Tuesday, September 2. Phase 1 will consist of replacing the curbs and sidewalks on the west side of Southgate from the bridge to Wheeling Avenue. During this phase, the southbound lane of the Parkway will be closed for three to four weeks. Also, Turner Avenue will be closed both ways at the intersection of Southgate and Turner for the duration of phase one.
Phase 2 will replace the curbs and sidewalks on the east side of Southgate from Turner Avenue to Wheeling Avenue. During this phase, the northbound right turn lane will be closed and parking will not be permitted on the west side of Southgate Parkway.
Phase 3 will consist of the actual resurfacing of Southgate, at which time traffic will be maintained using flaggers. Turner Avenue will not be accessible for the duration of the project at Southgate and Turner due to the replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection.
The contractor will also install new decorative street lights, pedestrian signals, along with a decorative arch sign across the Parkway as part of the improvements.
The completion date for the project is December 9.
