Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Ohio AG Assessing Computer Virus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The state's attorney general is offering tips for Ohioans to protect their personal information following a major breakdown in Internet security revealed earlier this month.
The so-called "Heartbleed" security problem has put millions of passwords, credit card numbers and other personal information at risk.
The extent of the damage caused by the breakdown is unknown. The security hole exists on a vast number of the Internet's Web servers and went undetected for more than two years.
Attorney General Mike DeWine is urging consumers to update passwords to their online accounts - including those for banking, shopping, email and social media. Residents who suspect that they are victims of a scam or identity theft can contact his office at 800-282-0515.

Turkey Hunting Begins in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's spring season for hunting wild turkeys opened Sunday, with youths allowed to begin hunting the popular game bird this weekend.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says Ohio has had above-average hatch years that should result in many 2-year-old and 1-year-old male turkeys. The agency's Division of Wildlife anticipates about 70,000 licensed hunters aside from landowners hunting on their own property.
The spring and youth turkey seasons are open statewide with the exception of Lake La Su An Wildlife Area in Williams County. A special hunting permit is required there.
Hunters must have a hunting license and a spring turkey hunting permit. They may use shotguns or archery equipment. The wild turkey hunting season ends on Sunday, May 18. Ohio currently has about 180,000 wild turkeys.
