Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Backers of a proposal to change how Ohio draws its state legislative districts have raised $26,000 as they seek to get voters to approve the idea this fall.
A campaign finance report filed Friday shows that almost all the money raised by Fair Districts for Ohio comes from the Ohio Education Association, which gave a $25,000 contribution.
Ballot issue campaigns, statewide officers and members of the Ohio Legislature are among those reporting their political fundraising and spending in the semi-annual reports.
Candidates and committees must disclose their contributions and expenses through June 30, though they can include items beyond that date when they file the reports with the state's elections chief.
Ohio Senate Republicans reported raising nearly $2.6 million, while the Ohio House Democrats said they raised almost $410,000.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police in Ohio say a pizza deliveryman has been robbed and shot to death while taking an order to a property that turned out to be vacant.
Columbus police found 59-year-old James Flannery on Thursday night while responding to a report of a traffic accident. Police say it appears he drove away in his vehicle after being robbed and shot but then crashed in an intersection in the southeast suburbs.
Responding officers discovered Flannery had been critically hurt by a gunshot. He died at a hospital.
WCMH-TV reports investigators suspect he was robbed by more than one person and say whoever attacked him got away with a small amount of cash and two pizzas.

CINCINNATI (AP) - A prosecutor says a grand jury decided no charges are warranted against two University of Cincinnati police officers who responded to the traffic stop in which another officer fatally shot a driver.
Friday's announcement comes a day after former Officer Ray Tensing pleaded not guilty to murder and voluntary manslaughter in the July 19 shooting of Samuel DuBose. Tensing's attorney has said Tensing thought he was going to be dragged under DuBose's car.
The Hamilton County prosecutor says the two officers arrived as Tensing reached into the car. He says their official statements about what happened matched what was shown on Tensing's body camera, and neither of the two officers said in official interviews that they saw Tensing dragged.
Messages were left Friday at phone numbers for the officers, who are on administrative leave.
