BYESVILLE, Ohio -- Two suspects have been charged in connection with a controlled drug buy-bust operation in Byesville Monday evening.
Twenty-three-year old Juan Gonzales Jr. of Byesville remains in the Guernsey County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond with no 10% allowed. He has been charged with a fourth-degree felony count of trafficking in marijuana.
The other suspect, 22-year-old April Gonzales, is facing a fourth-degree felony charge of trafficking in drugs. She waived her preliminary hearing in Cambridge Municipal Court on Wednesday, and has been released on a recognance bond.
The pair was arrested at their Meek Avenue home during the execution of a search warrant, following an ongoing investigation into alleged drug sales. Byesville Police Chief Jason May said illicit prescriptions, drug paraphernalia and cash were seized during the Monday-night raid.
At last report, a 3-year-old child, in the home at the time of the raid, was in the custody of relatives.
Additional charges may be filed as the alleged drug sales took place within 1,000 feet of a school.
