Madeleine H. Andrews, age 87 of Columbus, and formerly a long-time resident of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away on January 28, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital as a result of leukemia. Madeleine was born February 26, 1925 in Kabelias, Lebanon to the late Nicholas and Mariam Hajjar, and was married to her beloved husband, John for 64 years. She attended the American School for Girls in Saida, Lebanon followed by four years of study at the French School for Girls in Kabelias. In 1948, she married John Andrews in Lebanon, and she accompanied him in his return to the United States to make it her home. In addition to being an excellent homemaker, Madeleine was actively involved, for thirty-three years, in the motel business with her husband as managing owners of the Andrews Motel followed by the Cambridge Travelodge. She enjoyed and excelled in many hobbies, the most notable being cooking, entertaining, and playing bridge. Her pride and joy were her four daughters and her grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist church, the Elks Club, and the Cambridge Country Club.
Madeleine is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband, John Andrews; by daughters Gloria (Jack) Joseph, Kay (Alan) Drake, Jeannie (Ted Nicol) Andrews, and Diane Andrews; sister-in-law Mary (Richard) Malmer; grandchildren Michael Joseph, Tegan Drake, David Drake, Matthew (Megan) Nicol, John Nicol, Tony Donato, and Kristen Donato; great-grandson Liam Hamilton-Drake; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, including a brother, Fouad Hajjar; grandsons, Christopher Nicol and Robert Nicol. Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home / 120 N. 11th Street / Cambridge, Ohio 43725. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February, 1, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church / 641 Steubenville Avenue / Cambridge, Ohio 43725. Rev. Max Beery will officiate the service with burial following in Northwood Cemetery. Madeleine
