Pleasant City
Burton H. Cooper, age 86, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Countryview Assisted Living in Lore City. He was born April 15, 1926, in Whitewood, Virginia, son of the late Charlie and Polly Wimmer Cooper. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the USS Storm and the USS Hornet in the South Pacific. He worked as a coal miner and a farmer, and he retired following 20 years of service with the state highway department. He was a lifelong member of the Southern Primitive Baptist Church of Whitewood, Virginia, and a member of the Noble County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed attending auctions, visiting friends and family, and he loved his farm.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Ida Cooper Rife, Margie Cooper Cantrell, Sarah Cooper Penley, and Carmen Cooper Payne; two brothers, Emory Cooper and Arthur Cooper; and one great-grandson, Stephen Michael Arsenault.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Arvilla Rife Cooper, whom he married October 4, 1952; his children, Drema K. (Gale) Elkins of Pleasant City, Barry L. (Deidre) Cooper of North Carolina, Terry K. (Brenda) Cooper of Cambridge, Kyle D. Cooper of Pleasant City, and Burton D.

Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell.
