Martha L. (Hamilton) Cox , 85, of Cambridge died Monday October 21, 2013 at Harmar Place in Marietta Ohio.

She was born December 8, 1927 in Byesville Ohio, the daughter of Robert B. and Charlotte Irene (Evans) Hamilton.

Mrs. Cox graduated from Byesville High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1945 and from Cambridge Business College in 1946. Besides being a wonderful wife and mother she worked as a secretary for Cambridge Business College, Rolling Hills Local School District, NCR Corporation, and the John A. Cox Nationwide Insurance agency.

She is a current member of the Cambridge Ninth Street United Methodist Church and a long time member of Byesville Main Avenue United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and was a long time member of the Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, Phi Chapter in Byesville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John A. Cox, whom she married December 25, 1946, who passed away March 21, 1978; her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Hamilton; and infant great-granddaughter, Kathryn Lucas.

She is survived by her three daughters, Joyce Kay (Bill) Lucas of Richmond TX; Connie (Mike) DeVol of Marietta OH; and Susan (Ed) Lyons of Cambridge; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 step great-grandchild; Mark (Erin) Lyons and Brady Lyons; Bethany Lyons; Jill (Christine) DeVol and Ashten Priest; Troy (Stacy) DeVol and Tyler and Henry DeVol; Rob (Cindy) DeVol and Levi and Case DeVol; Ty (Christine) Lucas and Liam and Landon Lucas; Brett (Kristy) Lucas and Lauren, Annie, Micah and Abby Lucas; Bradley (Maura) Lucas and Megan and Keira Lucas.

She is also survived by two special nieces, Linda Tomak and Jean Dolan and their families; and many loving cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Byesville from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24.

Funeral Services will be held at Black-Epperson Funeral Home on Friday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville following services.
