Obituaries: Lawrence Luke Finnegan Jr.

Lawrence Luke Finnegan Jr.
Lawrence Luke Finnegan Jr., age 55, of Senecaville, OH, died Monday,
January 6, 2014. He was born in Columbus, OH on February 15, 1958 to Frances
Hildebrand Baker and the late Lawrence L. Finnegan, Esq. Lawrence was the
grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Roy D. Hildebrand formerly of Newcomerstown. He was
preceded in death by his beloved brother Sean Francis Finnegan Sr. on
February 4, 2008. Lawrence was a Roman Catholic by faith.
Throughout his life he loved adventures, starting at age ten spending the
summer on a Navaho Indian reservation in New Mexico. While attending Culver
Military School, he learned to fly and was able to solo. He knew just about
everything there was to know about airplanes. He always wanted to obtain his
pilots license and today received his pilot's wings. He possessed a
photographic memory and had a great desire to learn about all things. He
traveled and worked worldwide while making friends throughout the world.
He was a certified commercial diver where he graduated first in his class.
He became an Alaskan legend written about by Frank Gerjevi whose column is
featured in the Alaskan Daily News. The author writes about his desire to
obtain work but will not pad his resume or in short, lie. He discussed at
length about politics, law, defense and being in the Ohio National Guard. He
said he was cold and broke but his optimisim and willingness to work paid
off. He was hired by an airline in Cold Bay. The writer commented it's good
to know some breaks still go to a man who's broke but honest. The adentures
included working on commercial fishing boats in the Bering Sea and later
years of commercial fishing in Belize where he was well loved and respected.
One of his greatest joys in life was watching his beloved Norte Dame
football team. Lawrence had a very kind and loving heart. He never saw
faults in others. He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle. He will be
greatly missed by his mother Frances Baker and her husband, Richard as well
as his brother, Kirk Finnegan of Senecaville; his sister, Heather
Finnegan-Cox and her husband James; his niece, Lauren Burrell Cox and his
nephews, Rory Cox and Sean F. Finnegan Jr., all of Merritt Island, FL.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2-4 pm at the Addy
Funeral Home in Newcomerstown.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on
Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
