Margaret “Jean” Milligan, 91, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at her home. She was born on January 1, 1923 in Old Washington, Ohio, daughter of the late George Cletis and Estella Margaret (Parry) Long.
Mrs. Milligan graduated from Old Washington High School in 1941 and attended business college in Columbus. After graduation she was employed at the Nationwide Insurance Company in Columbus. She married Charles H. Milligan on December 8, 1945 and became a homemaker.
Jean was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Cambridge where she served as financial secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #211 and served as Secretary and Worthy Matron. She was also a long time volunteer at Guernsey Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles W. Milligan; sister Joan O’Neill and Cleva Marjorie Long, and a brother R. Dale Long.
Mrs Milligan is survived by: husband Charles H. Milligan; brother William Long; daughter Sue (Jack) Milligan, son David Milligan; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Vierstra, Charles (Anna) Milligan, Jennifer Pavin, Tricia (Mike) Keefe, Matthew Antill, Nicole Girton, Scott Vierstra; ten great grandchildren, Riley, Chase and Colten Vierstra, Charlotte, Calliope, Carrick, Cecila Milligan, Matthew and Michael Antill and Mikaela Pavin; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The Eastern Star Chapter #211 will hold services at 7 pm. The service will be on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Max Beery officiating. Burial will follow in Old Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey / P.O. Box 1165 / Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
