Homer D. Oliver, age 95 of Cambridge, OH passed away Saturday May 17, 2014 at The Autumn Healthcare of Cambridge. Homer was born February 27, 1919 in Cambridge to Edgil Oliver and Clara West Oliver. Homer and his wife participated in many organizations while raising their children. Served as officer of the PTA. Served in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides, Band Boosters and help coach Little League. A 30 year employee of The Daily Jeffersonian where he worked in the press and composition room. Retired in 1984 from The Southeastern Printing Co. of Cambridge with 19 years of service working as a Compositor. A member of The Ninth Street United Church where he served in many areas of the church including: Treasurer, Finance Committee, Trustees , sang in the choir. A 74 year member of Guernsey Lodge #66 F&AM where he was Worshipful Master in the years 1946 - 1947. A member of The Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge. Life member of B.P.O. Elks in Cambridge. Homer enjoyed: golf, woodworking, small engine repair, gardening, lawn work, and model ship building. In later years he enjoyed many of The Cambridge City Band Concerts at the City Park.
Along with his parents Mr. Oliver is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Martha (Keyser) Oliver who passed away March 14, 2005, they were married March 5, 1944.
Mr. Oliver is survived by one daughter, Janice (Brady) Erwin of Columbus, OH. Two sons, Gary (Cyndi) Oliver of Cambridge, OH and Brian (Terri) Oliver of Louisville, KY. Four grandchildren: Christine (Anthony) Smith, Stacie (Todd) Ferrell, Danielle Oliver, Brandon Oliver. Three Step Grandchildren: Jennifer (Dan) Andria, Julie (Kevin) Fondale, Craig Storts. Nine Great Grandchildren: Zachary Erwin, Kaitlyn Ferrell, A.J. Ferrell, Tyler Smith, Darby Smith, Grace Fondale, Sophie Andria, Morgan Oliver and Brodie Oliver.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday May 20, 2014 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home in Cambridge. There will be a Masonic Service held at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home with Rev. Sturman Moore officiating burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Ninth Street United Church, 129 N. 9th Street, Cambridge, OH 43725. An online guest book may be signed at www.bundy-lawfuneralhome.com.
