Ronald Dean Williams, age 83 of Cambridge, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Meridian of Cambridge. He was born on July 23, 1930 in Cambridge, a son of the late Asa Williams and Laura (Kelley) Williams.
Mr. Williams was a 1948 graduate of New Concord High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was disabled. He retired from N.C.R. in 1991 after 28 years of service as a purchasing agent.
Ron was a life member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V.; a member of the American Legion Post 0888; a member and past Elder of the Old Washington Presbyterian Church; the Masonic Lodge 66 F&AM; the Eastern Star Chapter 211; a past board member and member of the Secrest Senior Center; a long time volunteer for Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, and the Old Washington Volunteer Fire Department. Ron was a member of the Buckeye Trail Hall of Fame and a member of the Buckeye Trail Round Ball; and he was on Old Washington Village Council for many years. His family hosted many foreign exchange students over the years also.
Ron enjoyed going to Cambridge and Buckeye Trail athletic events, playing euchre, and attending Masonic Lodge events. He faithfully served his church activities and loved going on long walks.
Ron is survived by: his wife, Dolores (Morris) Williams whom he married on April 28, 1951; their children; Jerry ( Susan) Williams of Cambridge; Lori (Joseph) Ruble of Dayton, Amy (Kenneth) Adams of Cambridge; a sister Lela Izzo of Florida; four grandchildren, Justin Shepherd, Treva Bustow, Carson Williams, and Britt Adams; seven great grandchildren; and several nephews.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; a son Michael Williams and a brother Bruce Williams.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm. Masonic services will be held at 7 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 11am. with Rev. Merlin Wentworth officiating. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be made to Old Washington Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of Guernsey / P.O. Box 1165 / Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
