Obituaries: Irvin Burns
|Irvin Burns, 95, of Senecaville passed away Saturday (August 2, 2014) at Meridian Healthcare.
He was born March 26, 1919 in Senecaville and was the son of the late Hallie and Margaret (Hunter) Burns.
Mr. Burns was the owner of J.I. Burns & Sons Inc., and retired from the oil field business after 80 years of service. He was a graduate of Senecaville High School, and a member of Senecaville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing the violin, and made several of them. He was very musically inclined and played many instruments. He loved spending time with his family, working on tractors , heavy equipment and loved his birds.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth (Oiler) Burns; two brothers, Miles and Carl; two sisters, Emma Sprout and Genevieve Case.
He is survived by his second wife Audrey A. (Mann) Burns whom he married January 18,1981; one son Jim (Mary Kay) Burns of Senecaville; one daughter, Carol (Barry) Hudson of Sunset S.C.; three grandchildren, Jim (Patty) Burns of Pittsburgh, PA, Shannon (Melissa) Hudson of Greenville S.C. and Barbara Ann (Kirk) DePriest of Enid, OK; five great grandchildren, Billy Burns, Daniel, Caleb and Rachel Hudson and Hudson DePriest; one step-daughter Pat (Jim) Hickenbottom of Cambridge; one step-grandson Jeff (Sherry) Hickenbottom of Cambridge; two step-granddaughters, Lisa Phillips and Kayla Stewart of Cambridge; five step-great grandchildren, James Hickenbottom, Braxton Stewart, Matt, Kellsy and Jason Phillips.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville and 10:00 -11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Senecaville United Methodist Church where services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Gruver and Tom Matus officiating. Burial will be in Senecaville Cemetery.
