MONROE COUNTY, Ohio -- Plans to activate a Monroe County gas processing facility are days away from approval by regulators in Ohio.
Blue Racer Midstream's fast-track proposal for the cryogenic facility will automatically be approved on June 13 unless members of the Ohio Power Siting Board declare otherwise. The oil and gas infrastructure company asked the board last month for an expedited review of its plan to a build a 138-kilovolt transmission line for the facility in its Berne processing complex.
Dallas-based Blue Racer expects to start construction on the $590,000 project this month and finish in August. Once the first phase of construction is complete, the Blue Racer facility will process 200 million cubic feet per day of natural gas. Eventually, the site will have three cryogenic units processing a total of 600 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
Multiple oil and gas producers reached agreements earlier this year with Blue Racer to use its midstream services in eastern Ohio’s Utica shale play.
