Rock Throwers on I-70 Damage Cars

Written by

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Columbus police are trying to find out who threw rocks that hit as many as a dozen vehicles along an Ohio interstate.

No injuries were reported but some cars were damaged so severely they had to be towed.

WBNS-TV reports one witness saw two boys throwing the rocks onto Interstate 70 Monday night.

The station says police searched the area with a helicopter but couldn't find any suspects.

Motorist Dennis DeYoung tells the station he was concerned about seeing two boys so close to the highway until he saw one of them throw a rock and hit his windshield.

Highway rock throwers have caused serious injuries in past incidents in Ohio, including a minister blinded by a rock thrown from an I-70 overpass in 2001.
