BYESVILLE, Ohio -- Authorities are trying to quell rumors of a knife wielding assailant roaming the village streets following an alleged assault and abduction in Byesville on Sunday night.
Guernsey County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call from the Stop Nine area of Byesville at around 8 p.m. to reports of a 30-year-old female, who had been stabbed in the abdomen. Deputies found the woman, who was wounded and claimed that she had been abducted and stabbed while jogging by an unknown male assailant.
According to Sheriff's Detectives, further investigation determined that the woman's wounds were self-inflicted. Charges are now pending against the female for filing a false report.
The woman was taken to Southeastern Med for treatment of injuries, and remains under medical care. Detectives report that the victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
