Grand jury reconvening in Steubenville rape case

Panel to meet for second day this week, agenda unclear

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (AP) - A Jefferson County grand jury investigating whether other laws were broken in connection with the case of a 16-year-old girl raped last year is going back to work Tuesday.
The 14-member grand jury, which started work in late April, reconvened in Steubenville on Monday. A chief issue before the panel is whether adults, such as coaches or school administrators, knew of the allegation but failed to report it as required by state law.
The Steubenville schools' technology director pleaded not guilty after the grand jury charged him earlier this month with tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, obstructing official business and perjury.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced the grand jury March 17, the day a judge convicted two Steubenville high school football players of raping the West Virginia girl in August 2012.
