Alcohol, speed may have been a factor in Cambridge accident

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- Local authorities continue to investigate an early-morning, roll-over crash that injured two in Cambridge on Saturday.
Reports indicate that the Cambridge Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene of the crash at the intersection of North 18th Street and Brenton Road at around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday. Officers say it appeared that the driver lost control of the vehicle, entered a number of yards and struck several mailboxes before rolling over. Initially, the driver was found hanging from his safety belt, while a passenger was found lying on the ceiling of the vehicle.
Firefighters utilized heavy rescue tools to extricate the two victims from the vehicle. The pair was transported to Southeastern Med, then transferred to another facility for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The crash investigation unit of the State Highway Patrol has been called in to recreate the accident, but initial reports indicate that alcohol and excessive speed may have played a role.
The names of those involved have been withheld, pending further investigation.
