Grand jury continues to investigate infamous rape case, connected crimes

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (AP) – A father and daughter who were indicted by a special grand jury appeared in a Steubenville courtroom on Friday.
Twenty-year-old Hannah Rhinaman of Mingo Junction, was indicted by the grand jury on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of grand theft. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a personal recognizance bond. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
Though the special grand jury is investigating if additional crimes were committed in connection with the Steubenville teen rape case, Attorney General Mike DeWine said the Hannah Rhinaman’s charges "are not directly related to the rape." He stated that, "the grand jury came across this evidence and issued the indictment."
Hannah Rhinaman’s father, William Rhinaman, is the Steubenville City Schools’ director of technology but is currently on administrative leave. He previously pleaded not guilty to all four counts against him, which include tampering with evidence and perjury. On Friday, William Rhinaman appeared for his pre-trial hearing without representation, at which time he asked for a continuation.
The panel of 14 jurors is reviewing evidence and hearing testimony as part of a state-level investigation into other possible crimes connected to the original case. In March, a judge found two Steubenville High School football players delinquent of raping a teenage girl in August 2012.
The grand jury adjourned on Wednesday and will meet again Nov 18.
