Mishap reported during Bon-Ton demolition on Thursday Daniel McPeek, AVC News

Front wall of gutted building collapsed onto Wheeling Ave. Thursday morning

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- A long-awaited demolition project began in downtown Cambridge on Thursday - but things didn't go as smoothly as planned.
The former Bon-Ton Photography Studio and connected apartments had set, gutted, on Wheeling Avenue since a fire tore through the building in July. City officials waited to begin demolition on the building until the State Fire Marshal completed its investigation, and until grants came through to help cover the cost of the demolition.
On Thursday morning, crews began tearing down the building with heavy machinery from the rear. According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the front edifice of the building suddenly lurched forward, spilling onto Wheeling Avenue and damaging several parked and passing vehicles. City workers quickly worked to close off the adjacent section of Wheeling Avenue as the crew cleared debris from the roadway.
No one was said to be injured during the mishap. As of yet, there is no estimate as to the cost of damage done by the falling wall.
