Two council members were not present at Tuesday night's meeting. As a result, Council could not take action a pair of proposed alley vacations, a number of routine transfers and appropriations, along with an ordinance that would authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with ODOT for the maintenance of a bridge on Sothgate Parkway over Wills Creek.
Mayor Tom Orr also reported to council on a good turn-out for Veteran's Day ceremonies at the Courthouse on Monday. The Mayor also passed along an update from City Engineer Paul Sherry that the North 8th Street project is essentially complete and that work on water line projects on North 10th and Brenton Road are in progress. Orr also thanked residents for their support of the fire levies on Election Day and talked about the Fire Department's pursuit of a grant that could help with the purchase of a new, big ticket ladder truck for firefighters. The Mayor passed along some information on a mitagation project that Columbia Gas is sponsoring as well. The project offers an energy audit that analyzes your home from top to bottom, checking gas stoves furnaces and water heaters for effeciency.
