Collision restricted traffic near Airport Road exit on Thursday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- Seven people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that restricted Interstate 70 in Muskingum County on Thursday.
Reports from the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol indicate that the crash, which involved three compact vehicles and a small SUV, occurred at around 5:00 p.m. near the Airport Road exit of I-70 westbound. Troopers say it appears one of the vehicles slowed down for an unknown reason and was struck by the vehicle behind it, and that two other vehicles collided with the first two.
Seven people were taken to the Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The names and identities of those involved have not been released.
Westbound traffic was restricted for some time, causing back-ups on the interstate. The Ohio Department of Transportation was called to the scene to divert traffic and clear debris from the roadway.
The accident remains under investigation.
