Village resident in Guernsey County Jail

BYESVILLE, Ohio -- A traffic stop in Byesville could result in possible felony drug charges being filed against a village resident.
According to Byesville Police Chief Jason May, officers were called to a residence in the village regarding a male, who was violating a protection order. The man was gone by the time police arrived at the scene, but was spotted driving a vehicle a short time later. A traffic stop was made as the suspect was reportedly known to be driving on a suspended license. A search of the driver reportedly turned up some drug paraphernalia and a K-9 from the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office was called in to sniff down the vehicle. The dog indicated the presence of drugs in the car. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a syringe and a white chrystaline substance, believed to be crystal meth. As a result of the incident, 43-year-old George Ward of Byesville has been charged with violation of a protection order, possession of drug abuse instruments and driving with a suspended license. Once tests on the substance recovered from the vehicle are completed, he may be facing felony drug charges as well. Ward remains in custody in the Guernsey County Jail.
