Local Schools pass "Calamity Day" threshold

Winter Weather may force Area Students to attend classes well into June
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- Various schools locally and across Ohio have canceled classes amid another round of extreme cold this week, pushing some past the limit of days they're permitted to miss without having to schedule makeup days.
Many schools in East Central Ohio are already past the maximum of five calamity days available each school year.   Those schools would likely have to make up some classes later, unless the state Legislature waives that requirement.  With spring still a way off, schools may be forced to take even more calamity days in the coming months forcing students to attend make-up classes well into June.  Travel in our listening on Thursday remains perilous with Guernsey, Coshocton, Morgan and Muskingum Counties still under Level One Snow Emergencies.  Roads are considered hazardous.  Drivers are urged to use extreme caution.
