CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- The Finance, City Services and Council as a whole met in Committees in Cambridge City Council chambers last night.
Finance approved a request from the City Auditor for the appropriation of $2,700 from the Tree City USA event to the Tree Fund Line Item. Safety Director Rocky Hill also requested an amendment to the city's contract for fire protection with Cambridge Township. In the original contract, the Township, in return for fire protection, agreed to purchase a new tanker for the city at a cost of around $265,000. The cost of the truck has risen to over $278,000. The Township has agreed to pick up the extra cost of the tanker. The change was OK'd by Finance.
City Services met as well and approved a request to solicit donations at a number of locations in the city for the Shriners Hospital this summer. The dates and locations for the solicitation by the Kambi Shriners are set to be approved at next week's full council meeting. The committee also approved a requested annexation petition for a property on Southgate Parkway. The petition spells out the services the city will provide for the annexed property, Rick's Place Auto dealership, located next to Wal-Mart.
Finally, Council as a Whole Committee met in an attempt to come up with a noise ordinance for the city. Following some discussion, the issue was tabled once again. Council President Bill Cowgill commented:
