CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- Two men, suspected of vandalizing more than 20 vehicles in Cambridge early on Monday morning, are now facing felony charges.
Both 23-year-old Stephen LeMaster of Cambridge and 23-year-old Brett Lycans of West Salem were charged with felony five counts of vandalism in Cambridge Municipal Court on Wednesday.
According to reports from the Cambridge Police Department, dispatchers received numerous reports at around 3:00 a.m. Monday of tires being slashed in the area surrounding Orchard Avenue, Jefferson Avenue, and S. 6th Street. Several callers also complained that their vehicles had been broken into. While patrolling the area, officers observed two men walking through a nearby alley. When requested to stop, the men attempted to flee the scene. LeMaster reportedly fell down and was taken into custody immediately. Lycans escaped, but was found at a residence on Madison Avenue a short time later.
Detectives say that between them, the pair allegedly slashed 70-75 tires on various vehicles, during their short, destructive crime spree. Both remain in custody in the Guernsey County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bond each, with no 10% allowed.
