SHADYSIDE, Ohio -- Belmont County authorities say a stolen vehicle believed to have been carrying volatile chemicals was recovered on Thursday.
The Belmont County Sheriff's Office reports that the Mercury Mountaineer, stolen late last week from an Econo Lodge parking lot in St. Clairsville, showed no signs of being used for the manufacture of methamphetamine. It was discovered abandoned outside of Shadyside early Thursday morning.
The Sheriff's Office told media outlets on Wednesday that a woman reported her car missing, and said that she had heard from acquaintances that the person who stole it may have been using it for a mobile meth lab.
It has been taken to an impound lot as the investigation continues.
