BARNESVILLE, Ohio -- A number of Barnesville voiced concerns earlier this week over a possible drilling waste site coming to the village.
On Thursday, the Belmont County Port Authority responded by voting to rescind an earlier vote to allow a contract with EnerGreen and tabled the issue until September 1. This will allow the company, which disposes of byproducts created by hydraulic fracturing, to present the board with more information.
Residents said they are concerned that they don't know what could be in the waste and how it could affect their families, their property, or the water supply.
In 2012, the Belmont County Commissioners sent a letter to the Port Authority stating they did not support another proposed injection well and the project died as a result. Just as in 2012, some commissioners are not in support of the proposed site as it stands.
