BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- The widow of a former Powhatan mayor was returned to the Belmont County Jail on Wednesday after her bond was revoked.
A bail bondsman appeared in court last Thursday, cutting all ties with Deborah Brown. Belmont County Prosecutor Dan Fry said Brown put up assets from her late husband's business as collateral, and those assets are currently frozen by order of the probate court. Brown faces charges of stealing from her late husband's business.
Brown was arrested and charged with theft last month following a lengthy investigation involving local and federal authorities.
Sheriff Dave Lucas would not say if the arrest was connected to Marvin Brown's murder, but stated that the "case is a top priority." Brown's body was discovered in a hunting cabin in Powhatan late last winter.
