CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- Two more suspects have been taken into custody by the Cambridge Police Deparment in connection with charges handed down by a special grand jury two weeks ago.
According to police reports, 30-year-old Alex Birch of Columbus turned himself in on Monday and was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin within a school zone, a felony of the fourth degree. And 45-year-old Carol Nelson of Cambridge was taken into custody and charged with three counts of trafficking in prescription pills, namely Percocet, within a school zone, felonies of the fourth and fifth degrees.
The arrests are part of a city-wide drug sweep by the Cambridge Police Department.
In an unrelated incident, a female suspect was also arrested on Monday near Clairmont Avenue after reportedly selling heroin to an undercover operative. A Cambridge Police officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle shortly thereafter and K-9 Blaz signaled the presence of drugs. The vehicle was searched and heroin was reportedly located in the driver's door. The suspect was taken into custody with formal charges to submitted to the grand jury for possible indictment at a later date.
All three suspects remain in custody in the Guernsey County Jail.
