CALDWELL, Ohio -- The Caldwell Exempted Village Schools Board of Education wrapped up another school year and prepared for the next at Thursday night's regular meeting.
Treasurer Jeff Croucher presented board members with the district's five-year forecast, which he said painted a positive fiscal future for the schools:
Croucher noted that the five-year forecast predicts district will be deficit spending by the 2016-2017 school year, adding that recent changes to state funding can make it difficult for districts to get a clear picture of revenues for the next several years.
While reviewing appropriations for the upcoming year, Croucher told the Board that students spent much less on lunch this year than the previous. He said that the $20,000 change in lunchroom revenues coincided with new nutrition mandates from the federal government .
The Board also acted on a number of personnel issues Thursday. After a lengthy executive session, board members approved a long list of contracts for the 2014-2015 year, including Clint Crane as Atheletic Director and Julie LaFollete as Associate Athletic Director.
The Caldwell Schools Board of Education will next meet on Thursday, July 17.
