Cambridge FD responded quickly, extinguished fire

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- A garbage truck caught fire on Woodlawn Avenue on Wednesday morning, temporarily closing a portion of the street.

According to the Cambridge Fire Department, firefighters were called to the scene near the intersection with Southgate Parkway at around 10:55 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a refuse truck partially engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No one was injured.

Because the truck broke down on the side road connecting Southgate Parkway to Woodlawn Avenue, traffic was temporarily rerouted.

Officials say the fire began in the engine compartment before spreading to the truck's undercarriage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
