ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says the boat two missing men were in before it went over a dam on the Muskingum River, was stolen.
An ODNR spokesperson says sometime after 8:30 p.m. on Monday a boat was stolen from a dock near the Zanesville Yacht Club. The boat was a 19-foot, blue-and-white, 1994 model Crownline.
Searchers are speculating the men crashed after going over the dam and were thrown into the swift current. Pieces of the craft have been recovered.
The men were reported in the water on Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. and have not been seen since. The ODNR says local first responders, along with a helicopter from the Highway Patrol and the Division of Wildlife, have been searching for the missing men.
The pair has not been found and their identities are still unknown. Officials urge the public to come forward if they have any information that can help in the investigation.
