BARNESVILLE, Ohio -- A Barnesville pharmacy fell victim to an attempted break-in early Monday morning.
The Barnesville Police Department responded to Cheffy Drugs on Main Street after the store's security alarm went off at around midnight. Upon arrival, officers found the front-door glass broken, but no sign that the business had been entered.
Owner Pat Kovacs told AVC News that security footage showed the would-be burglar first attempting to break the glass with a rock, then with a hammer. It appeared that the suspect was scared off by the store's security alarm.
Another Barnesville resident reported that a man with a hammer in hand approached her car shortly after the attempted break-in, but that she sped off before he got too close.
The Barnesville Police would not say if the possible car-jacking attempt was connected to the break-in. An investigation is ongoing.
